This tutorial video gonna help you on how to convert a web page in to a usable XML Dreamweaver document and then to a template to use with another web page. Along with this we also going to look for, how to modify special regions of the web page in to Dreamweaver. The process of saving a web page as a template is pretty simple. You do that from file menu and save as option. Once you got the template ready you can start edit existing web page. This is very simple. So, lets get started, following video is gonna help you to work out the process. Here is the video.

In this tutorial, you will see how to convert an existing webpage created in Adobe Dreamweaver; to a template which then can be used by adobe contribute users, to create new pages for their website. You also learn how to insert special regions in to the template page, so the contribute user can add their content. To start with, the process, we will open the webpage we want to user as the basis for the template. Next, from the file menu, I will choose save as template. When the save as template dialogue box opens, I can enter a description, and file name for this new template, and click save. At present, our contribute users cannot add any content or cannot make any changes to any region of this page. So the next task is to define the area of this files, will be able to work with it. To do this I will start by selecting the region of the page, I wish to make editable.

Next, I will click on the template button, and there I will choose editable region. In the new editable dialogue box, I will give the editable region a name and then click ok. Notice now how this region is enclosed in a highlighted rectangular outline in the template under a tab in a top left hand side of the region shows the region name. Lets remove the existing text and quickly add some generic text. Having made change to the template, let’s save it. Now if I show the files panel, you can see that the new folder quote template has automatically been created, and if we expand this, the newly created file with suffix, “dwt”, which stands, for Dreamweaver template.

Now lets move on to the last part of this tutorial, which to publish the template file to the web server. So our contribute users can access it, to make the new template available to contribute users, with a template file still selected, I will click “put file” button in the files panel. And click no the put dependent file message box. This now transfer, the folder under dwt file over to the web server automatically for our contribute users, ready for our contribute user to access. In this tutorial, you have learned how to convert an existing webpage into a Dreamweaver Template that contribute users can then use to create other web pages. You have also learned how to add special areas of a page put as an editable region, which contribute users can then add content into.

And The Flickr, make it easy for me to remember what it is.

Click ok. This is one of those little things that DreamWeaver puts in there that lets you know there’s something on the page that is not going to be visible. So, that funky little yellow anchor will not appear when you look at this page in a browser but it’s there so that you know where the anchor is and that it was set correctly. You can turn that off in preferences if you don’t like it. But I kind of like the anchor once to show because that way I can see where my anchors are. Let us set a second anchor for Shutterfly so that we can create a couple of links. Click ok.

My anchor appears automatically. Now I go upto the top of the page to where I have got the words Shutterfly and Flickr and I wanna link this to that anchor down below. This is another time where I find this link option appears more useful and I will show you why. When I click here, and I come into link look at that my little anchor has appeared right here. So I have to do is click the link and highlight Shutterfly, so I am going to click the Shutterfly anchor. Click ok. And this will now link to that place lower on the page. I can highlight Flickr and type pound Flickr down here, make sure you put the pound sign if you are going to type that in manually.

But again I find it easier to just click link and because they save your anchors in this dialog, I like to use this dialog to set those. So those two are linked to lower on the page. So the final thing we are going to preview this page in a browser and test all those links and make sure they really work the way they are supposed to. So again, the best thing to do is always to save your work first. If you don’t Dreamweaver will prompt you and make sure that you have saved the page. So this time I am going to preview in Firefox, just to see how the page looks in different browsers.

It’s always good to test your work in multiple browsers. And I am going to expand this to just fill the screen so that I can see what I am doing here. Now I have set a few links on this page. So let’s see what happens. I set a link to Shutterfly. Ooh look it jumps right back down to Shutterfly. Let me see if that link to Flickr works. Click on Flickr and it brings me right to Flickr.

You can also use this trick to link from one page to a specific place on another page.

I am just going to create links from the top part of this page to a lower part to show you how it works. So first, I am going to scroll back up to the top of this page. You will notice that in my opening paragraph I mentioned Shutterfly and Flickr which I have descriptions for down below. So, I am going to make it possible for people to link it immediately from here down to that lower explanation. The tricky thing about jump points is that before you can set a link to a lower place on a page you fist have to put an anchor there, so that the browser knows where to go on that page.

So I put my cursor where I want my anchor and then I go up here to look it’s an anchor. And then I click on the anchor and now I am going to give this a name.

The three databases are especially designed for web applications including one for selling physical goods, another for digital goods and a third for event registration. The physical goods database includes eight internally laden tables that allow you to keep track of your site visitors or customers, any idioms and any orders placed on the site.

The digital goods database has all the features of the physical goods database with two additions. A fuel in the idioms table to store the location of the file to be downloaded and another fuel in the order details table to tracking the number of downloads per order. The third included database schema, event registration can store details about registrants for single events or multiple events at various locations.

You can even use this table to dynamic present of your event schedules, tracks, presentations, speakers, and rooms.

I can show you how to add a Hotspot to animation.

So first of all create a HTML document. Now by clicking on the image icon, menu drop down. I’m going to add a just a image. Just move this up and I wanna add an internal text. Okay so that is our image. And now if you go to the properties panel, click on the image. You could see these Hotspots icon. So include square or the circle ones and where you want to wish. Where you want to click. I am going to select the rectangle. So how like the part of image you want to turn it in to Hotspot okay.

And now that you are on this Hotspot if you click on it on the properties you can then change link. So I am going to change it to page one okay. Add or Create another Hotspot in the down. Over here okay. Create another link okay and then you can add auto text. So I am going to page two for this one and click on that for page one for this one. Okay so how to save this as, index where we want. F12 to preview.

Can we make it small and then if you click on page one you go to page one and if you click on page two you go to page two. So that’s an easy way of adding links to images. For more detail you can go to Zeforce.com and thank you for watching.

In case you didn’t see the video in part 1 of this series… here it is again.
