One of the basic features within DreamWeaver is the ability to work in either code, design or split view.

When working in design view elements that you place on the page are shown within DreamWeaver approximately, as they will be displayed in the browser window. So for example if I insert an image, you will notice that the image immediately displays approximately as it will within the browser window. How to switch now to split view? And you can see that the image is highlighted having just been inserted it is also highlighted in code.

So the code on the line, this particular visual element is immediately displayed. And I can stay in this mode as I continue to assign attributes to the selected item. And you will notice that all the attributes I add in are immediately updated in code as well. The only thing in working about split view of course is that you do limit yourself in terms of how much you can see of the page.

So most of the time you will find it is usually most convenient either to stay in design mode or if you need to then to switch across to code
