Welcome to site guide, in this tutorial we are going to show you how to create a Site Root Folder. A site root folder is folder that is going to contain everything that we are going to create in Dreamweaver. All we have to do is to come up to the site button in Dreamweaver and click on the new site, wait for the window to show up. You can see that the local and advanced info settings are selected. Now the first thing we are going to do here, is to name the site here, you can name the site whatever you want. It won’t appear on the website. I am going to type tutorial here. And, the next thing to do is to create the site root folder. Now you can see that this slot is named local root folder. So come here and click on this little folder icon beside it. And select the place where you want it to be saved.
To create the new folder on this little folder with the flash on it and name it whatever you want. Click on open and select. Now we have created the site root folder. The next folder we are going to create is the images folder. It will be in the root site folder and it will contain every every image that you are going to use creating your website. So click on this little folder here and you can see that it took you in to the root site folder. Click on the folder with the flash on it and give it the name images. Click open select. Now the last thing you can do here is to type in your domain name if you have one. If you don’t have a domain name, I recommend that you visit our website and under the get in started page read the choosing the right domain name article. It will give lots of info on how to choose the domain name, how domain names affect ranking and much more.
Otherwise, we have done with this window so just click on ok. Now you can see the site root folder and the images folder we created is here in the local files panel. The last folder we are going to create is the CSS folder. The CSS folder will contain the CSS layout we are going to create in the next tutorials. Right click on the site root folder, go up and select the new folder and name CSS. Now the last thing we are going to create here is a page, a new file. So click on the site root folder, right click on it ,go upto new file. You can see a new untitled HTML document has appeared. Now we are going to rename it and give it the name index.
Click enter and it will save it. Now index is going to be your homepage, it will the first page we are going to work on. I will double click on it so you can see that it’s a plain page. Now things done yet, what we are going to do lots of stuff on it in the next tutorial. So, you have made the foundation of your website. Watch the next tutorial on how to create the first page. Thank you for watching.
