In this video I’m going to discuss the role that Dreamweaver can play in Coldfusion development.
I’ll be limiting my discussion and description to Dreamweaver CS 3. But most of what I’ll talk about is also true of earlier versions of Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver CS 3 is just the latest release of this product that historically has been built for web designers that is developers of web sites who are primarily focused on visual presentation. By beginning a few years ago when macromedia and lair got together Dreamweaver has been transformed from not just a designers’ tool but also to a coding environment.
An application development environment that has both great design tools and very good developers’ editor. If you want to use Dreamweaver CS 3 to work on Coldfusion the first thing to understand is that you have to actually create Coldfusion files. I’ll go into this in much more detail in later videos but let me show you one aspect of Dreamweaver that’s important to know.
I’m going to start by creating a very simple HTML page from the welcome screen under ‘Create New’ I’m clicking on HTML. Notice that in my copy of Dreamweaver I opened up in ‘code view’.
