This is what your users going to see when they click on it. So in this case lets send them to the site of the publisher of this book. So we gonna type in OReally Media and next the link field is where you gonna specify where you want to send the user in the form of an URL.
This case we are going to type in an absolute URL another way of form reference of where you want send the user. So are going to type http://www.oreally.com. Now its very important when you use an absolute URL that you prefix http://. This lets the browser know what is going to the new website. If you leave this off the browser thinks that www.oreally.com is the name of the file or like a page. So it is very important to make sure it is front of any folder or main reference you enter in.
And last but not least you are going to choose the target another words where you want the new link or page to appear should it appear in the same browser window as the current page or should you launch a brand new browser window. In this case set a target of blank like choosing it from that menu. This is gonna open up the OReally site with a new blank browser web. Go ahead and click the category of the Hyperlink and go ahead and choose file preview in browser and select the browser you want to use from the list. In the case internet explorer. if you are asked to save the page go ahead and do that.
Go ahead and click on the link and you will see the oreally site launches a new browser window. Go ahead and close the browser down and return the dreamweaver. Now you are going to create the same link but in a different way. Hit the return key couple of times to space in the original link. And go ahead and type in digital classroom. Hyperlinks can be created from existing text using property inspector. Go ahead and select the new phrase which I did digital classroom. And then downs the property inspector and find that link type in the field. And once again type in http://www.oreally.com. And you will see right below it that target menu again. Click on the target menu and once again choose blank which is going to open up the oreally site in a new blank browser window.
Go ahead to choose file save to save the changes and once again choose file preview browser and choose the browser you want to view the pages. Document opens up the window and you will see the new link that you created. Go ahead and click on that and you will see that it is exactly the same.
You have launched the oreally site and a new browser window. So links could be created in one or two ways from the common insert part or directly from the property inspector on any existing text on your page.
